Job Summary/Basic Function

ARTH 452 – Art History Topics: Medieval Art.

An introduction to the art and architecture of the Middle Ages (250 – 1450 CE) in Western Europe, the Byzantine Empire, and the Islamic world that will explore both key religious works (‘those who prayed’) and secular culture—royal courts, Crusades, knights, chivalry, weapons, armor, castles (‘those who fought’).

Minimum Qualifications

• A master’s degree in the teaching discipline or a master’s degree with a concentration in the teaching discipline (a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline)
• A repertoire of engaging teaching techniques that reaches out to a variety of learning styles
• Familiarity with digital technologies in teaching

Preferred Qualifications

• PhD or other terminal degree in a relevant subject area.
• College level teaching experience
• Strong interest or background in an art and design school environment
