Job Summary/Basic Function

The Maintenance Technician – Electrical maintains assigned electrical equipment of the college in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations; performs routine electrical work duties such as, installing ballast, bulb changes, installation of electrical plate covers, compliance testing of Fire and Emergency Exit signs; develops and maintains accurate records of work performed.
The successful candidate is certified in OSHA 10 and NFPA 70-E with the knowledge and understanding of the National Electric Code (NEC); has the ability to isolate and replace defects in fixtures, ballasts, bulbs and defective parts; and has the ability to lift up to 50 pounds using proper lifting techniques; ability to work within Microsoft Office Suite and other database software.
This position comes into regular contact with co-workers and supervisors along with occasional and casual contact with visitors, students, staff members, faculty, etc. while performing the duties of the job. The Maintenance Technician – Electrical is able to communicate effectively orally and in writing and will establish and maintain professional working relationships with other employees and the general public.
In addition, this position may be required to come into work on weekends, holidays and in emergency situations (i.e., may be subject to “on-call” responsibilities) and performs general building maintenance tasks as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Five years of verifiable electrical maintenance experience.

• Certifications in OSHA 10 and NFPA 70-E, and/or the ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.

• Possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Florida driver’s license
