Job Summary/Basic Function

Maintenance Technician – HVAC II repairs, adjusts, and maintains assigned HVAC equipment of the College in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations; trouble shoots and repairs commercial grade heating, ventilating, air conditioning (HVAC) systems and multi-zone systems that incorporate pneumatic, electronic and/or programmable logic controls.

The successful candidate has the ability to make electrical and copper repairs on A/C units, i.e., sweating copper; has knowledge of A/C thermostat installations/operations; ability to document and track preventive maintenance activities using Microsoft Office and database software; ability to read schematics and blueprints and/or technical manuals. The Maintenance Technician – HVAC II has the ability to use all trade appropriate tools and lift up to 50 pounds using proper lifting techniques.

This position comes into regular contact with co-workers and supervisors along with occasional and casual contact with visitors, students, staff members, faculty, etc. while performing the duties of the job. The Maintenance Technician – HVAC II is able to communicate effectively orally and in writing and will establish and maintain professional working relationships with other employees and the general public.

In addition, this position may be required to come into work on weekends, holidays and in emergency situations (i.e., may be subject to “on-call” responsibilities) and performs general building maintenance tasks as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Five years of verifiable experience as an HVAC technician or in the trade directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
HVAC certification from trade appropriate school
• Possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Florida driver’s license

• Requires a Criminal and Motor Vehicle Background Check

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in commercial refrigeration

Work Hours Monday through Friday, 7am to 4pm, and as business necessitates
